UGACOF, located in Kampala (Uganda) and established in 1994, is the Ugandan subsidiary of SUCAFINA. UGACOF is one of the leading coffee processors and exporters in Uganda. The Group’s vision is to be the “leading sustainable ‘Farm to Roaster’ coffee company in the world”. Therefore, Ugacof wants to partner with smallholder farmers to build long-lasting relationships that support a transparent and traceable supply chain, but who are the farmers to work with, and how to establish a long-lasting relation? Besides, Ugacof wants to secure and sustainably increase coffee sourcing volume from farmers it currently directly sources from, but how will a transformation to a Regenerative Agriculture approach yield this goal?
This report provides an answer to the question: “How can Ugacof increase SHFs’ income resilience and improve agriculture systems of farms it directly sources from, while securing and increasing its current volume of coffee in Uganda?”, and recommends:
